Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 3.5 oz fresh ginger root, chopped, optionally peeled Choose firm and smooth ginger for best flavor.
  • 1 whole lemon, sliced
  • Honey or another natural sweetener, optional, to taste Adjust sweetness based on preference.

Method

Preparation
  1. Chop the ginger into 1 to 2 inch pieces. Peel if desired, then remove the lemon rind and slice the lemon into thin rounds.
Boiling
  1. Pour the filtered water into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat.
Simmering
  1. Add the ginger and lemon to the hot water, stir gently, reduce heat to low, and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
Serving
  1. Strain the tea into mugs. Add a thin slice or two of lemon to each mug and drizzle in honey or another sweetener. Stir well and serve warm.
Storage
  1. If there is leftover tea, remove ginger and lemon before storing to avoid bitterness. Let cool, then refrigerate in an airtight container.
