Method

Preparation
  1. Stir the yeast into the lukewarm milk with 1 teaspoon of the powdered sugar and let it sit to dissolve.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the softened butter (or oil) with the egg yolks until frothy. Add flour, salt, and the remaining powdered sugar, mixing until the ingredients are combined.
  3. Pour in the yeast mixture and knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm spot for 30 to 45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Baking
  1. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and roll each into a long, thin rope.
  2. Wrap the ropes around the grease roller or foil-covered soda can, overlapping slightly.
  3. Brush with melted butter or oil and roll in cinnamon sugar.
  4. Heat the oven to 400°F, place the roller across a deep baking dish and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, turning 180 degrees halfway through until golden and caramelized.
Finishing Touch
  1. Once baked, roll in more cinnamon sugar while still hot and remove from the roller using a wooden spatula. Serve immediately.
