  • 1 lb ground turkey Look for lean varieties.
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 cup ketchup Can substitute with tomato sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce Can substitute with soy sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 4 cups cooked pasta or rice Use whole grain for added fiber.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Non-dairy cheese can be used for a dairy-free version.

Preparation
  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). While it’s heating, prepare a baking dish by lightly greasing it.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground turkey, chopped onion, and bell pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the turkey is browned and the vegetables are soft.
  3. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and add salt and pepper to taste. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Mix in your cooked pasta or rice until everything is evenly distributed.
  5. Transfer the mixture into your prepared baking dish and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Place in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days and frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave.
