Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 wheel Brie cheese Look for a slightly soft yet not overly gooey wheel for best results.
  • 1 cup cranberry jam or sauce Can substitute with homemade cranberry sauce for a fresher taste.
  • 1 sheet puff pastry Ensure it's rolled out to the appropriate thickness.
  • 1 egg for egg wash Beaten egg applied for golden finish.
  • fresh rosemary or thyme Optional for garnish and additional flavor.
  • crackers or sliced bread For serving alongside the baked Brie.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry, ensuring it is thin but not tearing.
  2. Place the Brie cheese in the center of the rolled-out pastry. Generously top it with cranberry jam, allowing it to create a puddle on top without spilling over the edges.
  3. Carefully fold the pastry over the Brie, fully encasing it in the dough. Use your fingers to pinch and seal the edges, ensuring no gaps remain.
  4. In a small bowl, beat the egg to make an egg wash. Brush the outside of the pastry with this wash to give it a beautiful golden color as it bakes.
  5. Transfer the wrapped Brie onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake it for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  6. Once baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve it alongside crackers or sliced bread for easy dipping.

Notes

This dish is perfect for chilly nights and potlucks. Serve with a simple side salad or assorted nuts. Consider pairing with a light white wine or sparkling cider. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to four days.
