Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases.
- Using a sharp knife, gently score a 1-inch border around the edges of the pastry, being careful not to cut all the way through.
Make the cream cheese mixture
- In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese, sugar, and almond extract until you achieve a smooth, creamy consistency.
- Spread this mixture evenly inside the scored border on the puff pastry.
Add cherry filling and almonds
- Spoon the cherry pie filling evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
Bake the pastry
- Brush the exposed border of the pastry with the beaten egg.
- Place the pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20 to 22 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
Prepare the glaze
- While the Danish bakes, whisk together powdered sugar and a little milk until the mixture forms a thin, smooth glaze.
- Once the pastry comes out of the oven, drizzle the glaze over the warm Danish.
Serve
- Cut the Danish pastry into slices and serve warm.
Notes
