Ingredients
  

For the cake
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup Guinness stout beer Use room temperature for better blending.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Melted.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 2.5 teaspoons baking soda
For the frosting
  • 8 oz cream cheese Softened.
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9-inch springform pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a small saucepan over low heat, warm the Guinness stout beer and unsalted butter until the butter fully melts. Whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and baking soda.
  4. In another bowl, beat the eggs with sour cream until smooth, then stir in the warm Guinness-chocolate mixture.
Baking
  1. Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and fold until smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  2. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, testing with a toothpick for doneness. Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
Frosting
  1. Beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and heavy cream until smooth and spreadable.
  2. Once the cake is cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top.
Serving
  1. Slice the cake into 10 to 12 pieces and serve. Enjoy with coffee, milk, or fresh berries.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days. Freeze (without frosting) for up to three months.
