Preparation
- Beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Once combined, beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
- Gradually mix this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chunks, reserving a small handful for topping.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Using a 1/3-cup measure or an ice cream scoop, portion the dough into 8 large mounds, spaced 3 inches apart.
- Press the reserved chocolate chunks onto the tops of each dough mound.
- Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until edges are golden and set, with slightly underbaked centers.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
