For the Marinade
  • 0.5 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 0.25 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the Steak
  • 1.5 lbs flank steak Look for good marbling
  • Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, honey, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place the flank steak into a resealable bag or dish, pour the marinade over it, ensuring it is fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Grilling
  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.
  3. Place the steak on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or to your desired level of doneness.
  4. Once grilled, transfer the steak to a cutting board and allow it to rest for 5 minutes to let juices redistribute.
  5. Slice the steak against the grain into thin pieces, garnish with fresh herbs, and serve immediately.

Notes

Flank steak is best cooked medium-rare. Ensure it rests after grilling to maintain juiciness. Can serve with various sides like roasted vegetables or salads.
