Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs to the butter-sugar mixture one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Mixing and Baking
  1. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  3. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Allow the cakes to cool in their pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting and Decoration
  1. Once cooled, frost the cakes with buttercream frosting, creating a beautiful floral design.
