- In a large pot, add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook over medium heat for about 7 minutes, stirring frequently until the beef is browned and the onions are soft. After cooking, drain any excess fat.
- Add the minced garlic and chipotle peppers to the pot. Cook for an additional minute, allowing the garlic to become fragrant.
- Stir in the chili powder and cumin. Cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, and drained black beans. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for about 40 minutes, stirring occasionally to thicken.
- Taste the chili and season with salt as needed. Serve topped with shredded cheese, sour cream, and tortilla strips.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat on the stovetop or microwave.
