Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 large Granny Smith apples, cored and cut into 1/4-inch thick rounds Use firm, tart apples for the best texture.
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed For soaking the apple slices to prevent browning.
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter Acts as a base and glue for decorations.
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows For extra texture.
  • 1/2 cup candy eyeballs For fun decoration.
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds or sliced almonds Used as 'teeth'.
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips Optional decoration.
  • 1/4 cup chopped peanuts Optional for additional crunch.

Method

Preparation
  1. Fill a large bowl with cold water and the lemon juice. Slice the apples into 1/4-inch thick rounds and place them in the lemon water immediately. Let them soak for 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Remove the apple slices from the water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  3. Spread about 1 tablespoon of creamy peanut butter on one side of each apple slice, reaching the edges.
  4. Press 3 to 4 sunflower seeds or sliced almonds into the peanut butter along the bottom edge of each slice to create the 'teeth'.
  5. Press 2 candy eyeballs into the peanut butter above the teeth, and add mini marshmallows or mini chocolate chips for decoration.
  6. Arrange the assembled bites on a platter and serve them right away.

Notes

These bites are best served immediately after assembly to prevent the apples from browning. Store any leftover apple slices in the fridge for up to 4 hours before assembly.
