Ingredients
Method
Prepare the Caramel Mixture
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Heat this mixture over medium heat until it reaches a boil. Stir occasionally to help dissolve the sugar.
Achieve the Perfect Color
- Once boiling, add the unsalted butter and sweetened condensed milk. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until it changes to a deep caramel color, about 5-7 minutes.
Add Flavorful Ingredients
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and quickly stir in the marshmallows, vanilla extract, and roasted peanuts until well combined.
Spread and Cool
- Pour the nougat mixture into a greased baking dish and spread it evenly. Allow it to cool at room temperature until set, about 30-45 minutes.
Prepare the Chocolate Topping
- Melt the milk chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl or on the stovetop. Once melted, pour the chocolate over the cooled nougat layer.
Cut and Serve
- After the chocolate has set, remove the candy from the dish and cut into bars. Enjoy!
Notes
Store nougat bars in an airtight container at room temperature for 5-7 days or freeze for up to 3 months. For warm servings, microwave a bar for about 10-15 seconds.
