Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (or spice cake mix)
  • 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling Choose a can with intact apple slices.
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 jar (12 oz) caramel ice cream topping, divided 1/4 cup for batter, rest for topping
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, add the dry cake mix, apple pie filling, beaten eggs, 1/4 cup of the caramel topping, and cinnamon. Mix on low with an electric mixer for 1 to 2 minutes, being careful not to overmix.
Baking
  1. Spoon the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Finishing Touches
  1. Pour the remaining caramel topping over the warm cake and spread it evenly. Allow the cake to cool for about 30 minutes before slicing and serving.
Storage
  1. Once cooled, cover the baking dish or transfer slices to an airtight container. Refrigerate for 3 to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. The cake can be made ahead and stored for later use. Avoid overmixing to keep apple pieces intact.
