  • 2 cups warm water Must be warm to activate yeast.
  • 2 teaspoons sugar For activating yeast.
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast Must be fresh to ensure proper rising.
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1/4 cup olive oil For flavor and moisture.
Toppings
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese For a rich creamy texture.
  • 1/2 cup sliced jalapenos Fresh or pickled for a kick.
  • Sea salt for sprinkling To taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well to evenly distribute the salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Once risen, punch down the dough and spread it onto a greased baking sheet.
  3. Dimple the surface, add sliced jalapenos and shredded cheddar cheese, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with sea salt.
  4. Allow the dough to rise again for another 20-30 minutes.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and cool slightly on a wire rack before serving warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for 2-3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave for best results.
