  • 1 package chocolate chip cookie dough Use a high-quality brand with semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • 1 cup extra chocolate chips For added texture on top.
  • 1 cup candy eyes To give the cookies character.
  • 1 cup black licorice or thin pretzel sticks For spider legs.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven according to the directions on the cookie dough package. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Scoop out portions of the chocolate chip cookie dough and roll them into balls, placing them on the prepared baking sheet with enough space in between.
  3. Press a few extra chocolate chips into the tops of the dough balls before baking.
Baking
  1. Bake the cookies according to the package instructions, typically for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
Assembly
  1. Remove the cookies from the oven and while they are still warm, quickly insert 6-8 pretzel stick pieces or black licorice strands around the edges for spider legs.
  2. Lightly press one candy eye into the top of each cookie and allow them to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, or frozen for up to three months. Reheat before serving.
