Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, and sauté for about 3 to 5 minutes until translucent and fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned; drain any excess fat.
- Stir in diced carrots, frozen peas, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Season with salt and pepper, and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
Assembly
- Transfer the meat and vegetable mixture into a baking dish and spread the mashed potatoes on top.
Baking
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling.
Serving
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving to prevent soggy servings.
Notes
This dish makes for excellent leftovers and can be reheated easily. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days and freeze for up to 3 months. Let cool completely before wrapping for freezing.
