Ingredients

For the cocktail

  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur, such as triple sec (optional) Can be swapped with Grand Marnier or Cointreau.
  • 1 750 ml bottle chilled dry sparkling wine or champagne Prosecco can be used for a fruitier flavor.
For garnish
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries Helps keep the drink cold.
  • 1 orange thinly sliced into rounds For visual appeal and flavor.
  • optional fresh rosemary sprigs Can be replaced with mint for a different flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Chill the glasses for 10 to 15 minutes in the freezer for a frosty look.
  2. In a large pitcher, stir together the chilled cranberry juice cocktail and the orange liqueur, if using.
  3. Drop a few cranberries into the bottom of each glass and press an orange slice against the inside of each glass.
  4. Add about 2 tablespoons of the cranberry mixture to each glass.
  5. Slowly pour the chilled sparkling wine down the side of each glass.
  6. Give each glass a very gentle stir with a cocktail spoon and garnish with rosemary sprigs, if desired.

Notes

Best served immediately to maintain the bubbles. You can store the mixed cranberry juice and orange liqueur in the fridge for up to 2 days but add sparkling wine just before serving.
