Ingredients

Coleslaw Ingredients
  • 1 14 oz bag pre-shredded coleslaw mix (green and purple cabbage with carrots) Ensure the package is sealed tightly.
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise Can substitute with Greek yogurt for a lighter option.
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar Can replace with white wine vinegar for a different flavor.
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar Honey can be used instead for sweeter depth.
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard Yellow mustard may be used for a milder taste.
  • 1/2 tsp celery seed
  • 1/2 tsp salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper Adjust to taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients at the counter.
  2. Place the coleslaw mix into a large mixing bowl.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, Dijon mustard, celery seed, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Pour the dressing over the coleslaw mix in the large bowl. Toss the mixture thoroughly until every piece of cabbage is evenly coated.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Stir the coleslaw once more before serving. If the slaw seems dry, add a splash of vinegar to moisten it.
  7. Serve chilled as a delicious side dish.

Notes

Coleslaw can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Do not freeze as the texture can become mushy. Also, ensure to taste the dressing and adjust seasoning before adding all ingredients.
