Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large casserole dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent. Drain excess fat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture with sour cream, salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir well.
Layering and Baking
- Layer half of the thinly sliced potatoes at the bottom of the greased casserole dish.
- Spread half of the creamy beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes and beef mixture.
- Pour the beef broth carefully over the entire casserole.
- Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
- After 1 hour, remove the foil and sprinkle shredded cheese on top, returning it to the oven for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
This dish is perfect for chilly nights and potlucks. Leftovers are great for meal prep and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for 3 months.
