Preparation
- Begin by cooking the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions. Once al dente, drain and set it aside.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until it turns a light golden color to form the roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream. Keep stirring continuously until the mixture thickens to a smooth consistency.
- Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to taste. Stir in the sharp cheddar cheese and Gruyère cheese until melted and sauce is smooth.
- Fold in the cooked macaroni and chopped lobster meat until everything is well coated in the cheese sauce.
- Transfer the mixture into a baking dish. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top if using.
Baking
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for about 2 months. Reheat gently on the stovetop with a splash of milk.
