Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large pot, bring water to a boil and cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain the macaroni and set it aside.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the flour and stir for about one minute to create a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and is smooth.
- Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the sharp cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese until melted. Add the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, stirring until everything is well blended.
- In a large bowl, mix the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce until all pasta is well-coated.
Cooking
- Carefully transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture into a greased casserole dish. If desired, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top for added crunch.
- Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until it’s golden and bubbly.
Serving
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving to help it set for easier serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F until heated through, about 25-30 minutes.
