Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 pound ground beef Look for a blend that is about 80% lean.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Can substitute with crushed crackers or panko.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Pecorino Romano can be used for a sharper flavor.
  • 1 large egg Ground flaxseed mixed with water can be used as a vegan substitute.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Garlic powder can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust according to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce Or your favorite dipping sauce.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  3. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. Thread the meatballs onto the skewers, leaving some space between each one for even cooking.
Cooking
  1. Place the skewers on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until browned and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve with barbecue sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat by warming on the stovetop or in the microwave.
