  • 3 tbsp sugar Adjust sweetness to taste; can use brown sugar or agave syrup as alternatives.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract For a unique twist, consider using vanilla bean paste.
  • 1 pinch salt A sprinkle of sea salt can enhance flavors.
  • whipped cream Opt for dairy-free if needed.
  • black sprinkles Can substitute with colorful sprinkles or mini marshmallows.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the black cocoa powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Add a splash of milk to the dry mix and whisk until a smooth paste forms.
  3. Gradually add the remaining milk while whisking gently.
  4. Place the saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture is steaming but not boiling.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the cocoa into mugs and top with whipped cream and black sprinkles. Serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftover cocoa in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave.
