Ingredients
  

For the mozzarella sticks
  • 12 pieces mozzarella string cheese sticks (frozen) Look for low-moisture cheese for best results.
  • 2 large eggs (beaten) Beaten eggs help in the coating process.
  • 1 cup almond flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour if needed.
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese (grated) Pecorino Romano can be used for a stronger flavor.
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning Mix of dried herbs for flavor enhancement.
For serving
  • 1 cup marinara sauce For dipping; can be substituted with other sauces.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Freeze the mozzarella sticks for at least two hours.
  2. In a bowl, mix almond flour, grated Parmesan, and Italian seasoning.
Breading
  1. Dip each frozen mozzarella stick in beaten eggs, coat with the almond flour mixture, dip in eggs again, then coat once more.
  2. Freeze the coated sticks for 30 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place the frozen, coated mozzarella sticks in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  3. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Store leftover mozzarella sticks in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in an airtight container. Uncooked sticks can be frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in air fryer for best results.
