Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). While waiting for it to heat, brush both sides of the baguette slices lightly with olive oil.
- Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet in a single layer. Toast them in the oven for about 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown and crisp, turning them halfway for even toasting.
- Once the toast is ready, remove the baking sheet from the oven. Top each toasted slice with a slice of fresh fig, making sure to cover enough of the surface of the bread.
- Crumble blue cheese generously over each fig-topped crostini. Then, sprinkle the toasted chopped walnuts on top to add an excellent crunch.
- Take your honey and generously drizzle it over each crostini. The honey will bring out the sweetness of the figs and balance the richness of the blue cheese.
- Finally, sprinkle a few fresh thyme leaves over the top for a pop of color and flavor. Serve immediately and enjoy these bites while they’re warm, savory, and sweet.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freeze the prepared crostini for up to 2 months, but it’s best to freeze the components separately and assemble fresh when ready to serve. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 5-7 minutes until warmed through. Avoid the microwave, as it may make the bread chewy.
