Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, orange zest, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the halved fresh cranberries.
  6. Fill the muffin cups about two-thirds full with the batter.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the muffins cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
