Ingredients

For the cupcakes
  • 12 pieces gluten-free vanilla cupcakes (baked, cooled)
For the frosting
  • 2 cups white buttercream frosting Ensure the frosting is soft and easy to pipe.
  • to taste mini chocolate chips for eyes
  • to taste black icing for mouths

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by fitting a piping bag with a large round tip. Fill the bag with white buttercream frosting. Ensure the frosting is soft and easy to pipe; if it’s too thick, you can give it a quick stir.
  2. Pipe a tall, rounded swirl of frosting on top of each cooled cupcake. Start in the center and work your way outward, tapering the frosting at the top to create a ghostly shape. Make it a bit taller for a more dramatic appearance.
  3. Gently press two mini chocolate chips into the frosting near the top of each ghost. Position them closely to give your ghost an adorable and spooky expression.
  4. Using the black icing, pipe a small oval shape below the eyes to form the mouth. This gives each ghost personality and adds to the fun festive look.
  5. These cupcakes are now ready to be served! They’re perfect for Halloween parties or just a fun treat after dinner. Let the kids get involved in the decorating, as it makes for a fun family activity.

Notes

Watch out for common mistakes: Fill piping bags only halfway for better control, ensure frosting is at the right temperature before piping, allow cupcakes to cool completely before decorating, and watch the size of your ghost shapes.
