Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the chocolate cake mix box. Prepare a 9x13 pan as directed, then pour the batter into the pan.
- Bake the cake for the time specified on the box, usually about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool completely in the pan for about 30 minutes.
- Once cooled, crumble the cake into chunks, ensuring the pieces are not too fine.
Layering
- In a large trifle dish or the same pan, start layering your dessert. Begin with half of the crumbled cake at the bottom.
- Add a layer of chocolate pudding next, followed by a layer of crushed Oreos. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of crushed Oreos on top.
Decoration
- Using black gel icing, write 'RIP' on the rectangular cookies. Allow them to set for a few minutes.
- Gently press the cookies into the top layer of Oreos to create a tombstone effect.
- Place gummy worms around the tombstones, letting some partially emerge from the cookie dirt.
- Chill the dessert before serving to let the flavors meld.
