Preparation
- In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper to create the rub.
- Generously coat each turkey leg with the spice rub mixture.
Cooking
- Preheat your grill to medium heat or set your smoker to 250°F.
- Place the coated turkey legs on the grill or smoker and cook for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, turning occasionally and checking the internal temperature.
- During the last 15 minutes of cooking, brush the turkey legs with the BBQ sauce.
Serving
- Once the internal temperature reaches 165°F, remove the turkey legs from the grill and serve warm.
Notes
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
