Ingredients
  

For the Rub
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne Optional for heat
  • salt and pepper to taste
Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces turkey legs Fresh preferred
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce Any favorite variety

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper to create the rub.
  2. Generously coat each turkey leg with the spice rub mixture.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your grill to medium heat or set your smoker to 250°F.
  2. Place the coated turkey legs on the grill or smoker and cook for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, turning occasionally and checking the internal temperature.
  3. During the last 15 minutes of cooking, brush the turkey legs with the BBQ sauce.
Serving
  1. Once the internal temperature reaches 165°F, remove the turkey legs from the grill and serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
