  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese Divided for filling and topping
  • 1 spray cooking spray For muffin tin preparation
For Topping
  • 2 pieces Roma tomatoes, finely chopped Fresh garnish
  • 0.25 cup sliced green onions For added flavor
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped For color and taste
  • 0.5 cup sour cream Optional, for creaminess
  • to taste pieces black olives, sliced Optional Halloween decoration

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray a 12-cup muffin tin generously with cooking spray.
  2. In a large skillet, warm the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and a pinch of salt, cooking for 3 to 4 minutes until soft and translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef and taco seasoning, cook for 5 to 7 minutes, breaking the meat until there is no pink left. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Stir in the salsa and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until the filling thickens slightly.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Press one wonton wrapper into each muffin cup. Fill with 1 to 2 tablespoons of beef mixture and sprinkle a small amount of cheese on top.
  2. Press a second wonton wrapper on top of each cup, turning it so the corners sit between the first set. Divide the remaining beef mixture and cheese among the cups.
  3. Bake for 12 to 13 minutes until the wrappers are golden and crisp.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Let the taco cups rest for 3 to 5 minutes in the pan before removing them carefully.
  2. Top each cup with sour cream, tomatoes, green onions, cilantro, and optional black olives to create spider decorations.

Notes

Best served fresh. Add toppings right before serving to maintain crisp texture. Store cooked, untopped cups in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
