Base Ingredients
  • 1 bottle red wine Choose a fruity red wine like Merlot or Rioja.
  • 1/2 cup blood orange juice Freshly squeezed is preferred.
  • 1/4 cup triple sec Can substitute with orange liqueur or Cointreau.
  • 2 tbsp honey Maple syrup can be used as a substitute.
Fruits and Fizz
  • 1 orange sliced orange Enhances flavor and presentation.
  • 1 cup mixed berries (blackberries, raspberries) Use fresh or frozen berries.
  • 1 cup ginger ale Can be replaced with lemon-lime soda if necessary.
  • Ice ice For serving.
  • dry ice (optional for effect) Use for a spooky presentation.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large pitcher, pour the entire bottle of red wine, half a cup of blood orange juice, and a quarter cup of triple sec. Add the two tablespoons of honey to the mixture. Stir well until all the honey dissolves completely.
  2. Next, slice the orange and add the slices along with the cup of mixed berries to the pitcher.
  3. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate it for at least two hours to allow all the ingredients to blend together.
Serving
  1. When ready to serve, remove the sangria from the fridge and gently stir in the ginger ale.
  2. Fill your glasses with ice.
  3. Pour the sangria over the ice-filled glasses and garnish with extra berries and orange slices.
  4. For a spooky touch, you can add a small piece of food-grade dry ice in each pitcher.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days, but expect the fizz to diminish. Avoid freezing sangria, but if necessary, it can last up to 2 months in an airtight container. It's best served chilled over ice.
