  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/4 cups milk Use more if you like it looser
  • 1 jar or packet dried chipped beef, about 2.5 to 3 ounces
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 4 slices toast (white bread is classic)
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 pinch onion powder
  • 1 splash cream
  • 1 handful frozen peas

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Rinse the dried chipped beef under cool water and pat it dry.
  2. Roughly chop the dried chipped beef into bite-sized pieces.
Cooking the Sauce
  1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sprinkle in the flour, stirring constantly for about 1 minute.
  3. Slowly add milk, stirring to keep it smooth until it starts thickening.
  4. Stir in the chopped dried beef and a pinch of black pepper, simmering for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Toast the bread while the sauce simmers.
  6. Spoon the creamy beef mixture over the toasted bread and serve.
