Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 6 pieces apples, sliced A mix of tart and sweet apples like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp is ideal.
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted Can substitute with coconut oil for a dairy-free option.
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup Honey or agave syrup can be used as an alternative.
  • 1.5 teaspoons cinnamon Options include pumpkin pie spice or allspice for variation.
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg Ground ginger or clove can also replace nutmeg.
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans Can substitute with walnuts, almonds, or sunflower seeds.
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream Dairy-free ice cream or whipped cream can be used.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and wash and slice the apples into thin wedges.
Mix Ingredients
  1. In a large mixing bowl, toss the apple slices with melted butter, maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg until evenly coated.
Arrange and Bake
  1. Spread the apple slices in a single layer on a lined baking sheet, ensuring enough space for caramelization.
  2. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the apples are tender and caramelized.
Serve
  1. Let the apples cool slightly and serve warm alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Watch out for overcooking the apples, which can cause them to turn mushy. Check them around the 20-minute mark. Ensure even distribution of apple slices on the baking sheet to prevent overcrowding.
