Ingredients

Cheese and Toppings
  • 1 whole whole Camembert cheese wheel (about 8 oz), in its wooden box if available
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary leaves, chopped, plus 1 sprig for garnish
  • 1/4 tsp flaky sea salt
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
For Serving
  • sliced baguette, apple slices, and crackers

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. If your Camembert came in a wooden box, remove any plastic wrapping and place the cheese back in the box. If there is no box, lay the cheese on a small piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet.
  3. Using a sharp paring knife, score the top rind of the cheese in a crosshatch pattern, cutting about 1/4 inch deep.
  4. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of the maple syrup over the scored top of the cheese, and scatter the chopped walnuts and rosemary leaves on top.
Baking
  1. Place the cheese in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes until visibly soft and gooey.
Finishing Touches
  1. Once removed from the oven, drizzle with the remaining 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and sprinkle with flaky sea salt and black pepper.
  2. Garnish with the sprig of fresh rosemary.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately while the cheese is warm and gooey with sliced baguette, apple slices, and an assortment of crackers.

Notes

Leftover baked Camembert can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, place in a 300°F oven for 8-10 minutes until warmed through. Avoid overbaking and ensure to score the cheese properly before adding toppings.
