Method
Prepare the Filling
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced pears, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and lemon zest. Let sit for 10 minutes.
Make the Topping
- In a separate bowl, mix together flour, granulated sugar, and baking powder.
- Add melted butter and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Assemble and Bake
- Pour the pear mixture into a baking dish.
- Spoon the topping mixture over the pears, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the filling is bubbly.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. For longer storage, cool and refrigerate for up to 3-4 days. Can be frozen but topping may soften.
