Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 loaf French bread Offers a crispy crust and soft interior.
  • 1 head garlic Roasted for sweetness and buttery flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped Adds a fresh flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped Adds an aromatic note.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the top off the head of garlic, drizzle it with a little olive oil, wrap it in foil, and set it aside.
Roasting the Garlic
  1. Place the wrapped garlic in the oven and roast for about 30-35 minutes, or until it feels soft when pressed.
Making the Garlic Herb Butter
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter with the roasted garlic, which should be easy to squeeze out of its skin. Add chopped parsley, basil, salt, and pepper, and mix until well combined.
Preparing the Bread
  1. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise to expose the interior.
Spreading the Garlic Herb Butter
  1. Generously spread the garlic herb butter mixture on both halves of the bread.
Baking the Bread
  1. Wrap the buttered bread halves in foil and bake for about 10 minutes. Unwrap and bake for an additional 5 minutes to crisp the edges.
Serving
  1. Once baked, slice the garlic bread into individual pieces and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, avoid overcooking the garlic when roasting. Ensure the butter is softened sufficiently for easy mixing. Customize the herbs and try different bread types as desired.
