Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 275°F.
- Use a paper towel to grip and peel the thin membrane from the back of each rack of ribs.
- In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and black pepper.
- Rub the mixture all over both sides of the ribs, pressing it into the meat.
Slow Roasting
- Wrap each rack tightly in a double layer of aluminum foil, sealing the edges.
- Place the wrapped ribs on a rimmed baking sheet and bake for 2 hours to 2 hours 15 minutes until the meat is very tender.
Saucing and Broiling
- Carefully unwrap the ribs and transfer them to a foil-lined baking sheet, bone-side down.
- Brush with 1 cup of barbecue sauce.
- Set the oven to broil on high and broil for 3 to 5 minutes, watching closely until the sauce bubbles and lightly chars.
Resting and Serving
- Let the ribs rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing between the bones into individual pieces.
- Arrange the rib pieces on a platter in a loose bone-pile pattern and brush with the remaining barbecue sauce.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired and serve warm with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
Notes
