Ingredients

For the dip
  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed Choose quality beans, firm and whole.
  • 1 cup sour cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin May use taco seasoning as a substitute.
  • to taste salt and pepper Start with a small pinch and adjust.
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice Can substitute with vinegar.
  • 1/2 cup salsa Fresh salsa recommended.
  • Black olives, for decoration Can replace with green olives if desired.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium-sized bowl, use a fork to mash the black beans until they are mostly smooth, leaving just a bit of texture.
  2. Add garlic powder, cumin, lime juice, salt, and pepper into the mashed beans, mixing well until the spices are fully integrated.
  3. Transfer the seasoned black bean mixture to a serving plate, spreading it evenly to form a solid base.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the sour cream with a pinch of salt. Fill a piping bag or a plastic bag with the mixture and cut off a small corner to pipe a spider web design on top of the black bean layer.
  5. For a thicker web effect, fill in the piped lines with additional sour cream.
  6. Spoon salsa into the center of the created spider web and place black olives around the salsa as decorative 'spiders'.
  7. Serve with crispy tortilla chips or fresh vegetable sticks and enjoy!
