  • 12 pieces Jalapeno peppers Choose medium to large jalapenos for easier stuffing.
  • 8 oz Cream cheese Can substitute with low-fat or dairy-free options.
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Can substitute with gouda or pepper jack.
  • 1 package Crescent roll dough Alternatively use puff pastry.
  • 12 slices Olive or black olive slices (for eyes) Can substitute with red bell pepper pieces.
  • As needed Cooking spray or oil Olive oil can be used for better flavor.
  • To taste Seasonings (optional: garlic powder, onion powder, salt) Customize based on preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven according to the crescent roll dough package instructions.
  2. Slice the jalapenos in half lengthwise and carefully remove any seeds.
Cheese Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese with shredded cheese and any desired seasonings.
Assembly
  1. Fill each jalapeno half generously with the cheese mixture, avoiding overfilling.
  2. Cut the crescent dough into thin strips and wrap them around each stuffed jalapeno to create a mummy look.
  3. Place the wrapped jalapenos on a lined baking sheet and lightly spray with cooking oil.
Baking
  1. Bake according to the dough package instructions, approximately 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
  2. Once baked, use olive slices to create eyes on the mummies.
Serving
  1. Allow the poppers to cool for a couple of minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm!
