- In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the squid ink pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.
- While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced garlic and sauté until golden and fragrant, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
- Add the red chili flakes to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds to bloom their flavor.
- Once the pasta is drained, add it directly to the skillet with the garlic and chili oil. Toss well to coat and use the reserved pasta water to adjust the consistency.
- Remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped parsley, a generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, and a touch of lemon zest.
- Serve immediately while hot and enjoy this dramatic and delicious meal.
