  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp cold water to thicken the glaze
For the Salmon
  • 4 pieces 6 oz salmon fillets Fresh or frozen wild-caught salmon
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds For garnish
  • 2 pcs green onions, thinly sliced For garnish
  • Cooked white rice and steamed broccoli, for serving

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly grease the surface.
  2. In a small saucepan, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, toasted sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Heat over medium and bring to a gentle simmer, cooking for about 2 minutes.
  3. Whisk in the cornstarch slurry and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes until the glaze thickens and becomes glossy. Remove from heat.
Baking
  1. Arrange the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet and brush each with half of the teriyaki glaze.
  2. Bake the salmon for 12 to 15 minutes until it flakes easily and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.
  3. Once baked, brush the remaining glaze on the salmon and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and green onions.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately over bowls of fluffy white rice with a side of steamed broccoli.

Notes

For best results, use fresh salmon fillets and ensure they're at room temperature before baking. Adjust seasoning and glaze based on your taste preference. This dish is great for meal prep and can be stored in the fridge or frozen.
